The hackers have told vx-underground that they used social engineering as an initial entry point. They’re believed to be a subgroup of the larger ALPHV ransomware group. Scattered Spider (also known as UNC3944) have claimed responsibility for the attack and said they’ve been in MGM Resorts’ systems since 9/8/23.
